St. Sophia's Cathedral

St. Sophia's Cathedral is the oldest standing stone church in Eastern Europe and a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture. Built in the 11th century it operates as a museum and has survived countless invasions and wars throughout its 1,000 year history. The interior contains an incredibly well preserved collection of 11th century mosaics and frescoes.
